In 1975 and before I was old enough to attend school, the Khmer Rouge Regime took over Cambodia.  Everyone was forced out to the countryside.  

 

My family was in the group that was to be executed because my father served in the army that was backed by the U.S., but was saved. 

 

We were instructed to go to Mountain Chalkaka and to station there until further notice.  The group cut down trees, built houses, and planted food, knowing that we could be executed at any time.
